The 2018 football World Cup held in Russia was a great success and it was wonderful to see countries with relatively tiny populations doing so well in the competition.The host nation also competed well, achieving their best results since finishing fourth in 1966.
It was almost beyond belief that Italy didn’t even qualify for the competition and that Germany and Spain didn’t reach the quarter-final stage.
The Croatia players performed heroically to reach the Final but were beaten by the 1998 winners France.
The Croatian stamp above was issued before the competition began, maybe the team’s performance will be celebrated further with another stamp.
France’s La Poste recently released the sheet below to commemorate the nation’s victory.
