He is a hero in his home country and second-highest goalscorer for the national football team and now Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimović will be the face most postmen, mail senders and recipients will frequently see in his homeland. On 11 November 2013, the Swedish Postal Service (Posten) announced that in 2014 they would release a full set of Zlatan Ibrahimović stamps. Ibrahimović had an active role in the project which features his image on five different stamps which come in a special booklet of ten.
Selling for around £6 a set, the stamp collection features photos of the 32-year-old in action for his country – with three of the images taken from Sweden’s 4-2 win against England in November 2012, when he scored all four of the winning team’s goals – one being a spectacular overhead kick from a distance of about 35 yards.
Five million stamps were sold on pre-release, with the official issue of the first stamps going on sale on March 27th.
